[DID NOT ATTEND: April 4, 2026] Flipper / Eye Flys
Flipper. Really? I haven’t thought about Flipper since the 90s.
I admit I don’t know a lot about Flipper. I just know that they have been around forever and were always kind of a thorn in the side of music. Someone told me that the album Generic Flipper was in response to PiL’s generic album. But I see that Flippers came out four years earlier, so nevermind that. Regardless, they are legendary. Of course, this version of Flipper doesn’t include either front man Will Shatter or Bruce Loose. Although original members Ted Falconi (guitars) and Steve DePace (drums) are still in the band. Recently Mike Watt was playing bass and singing although for this tour Matt Korvette (of Pissed Jeans) is singing.
But, even though there is a kind of legendary status to the band, I just didn’t care enough to see what the fuss was about.
Eye Flys are from Philly and they are purveyors of heavy sludge metal–too much so even for me. Sounds like a perfect double bill for those who like this.
