[DID NOT ATTEND: March 12 & March 13, 2023] Maya Hawke / Raaaatscraps / Raffaella
My daughter loves Maya Hawke. I’m sure much of this comes from Stranger Things (which she also loves), but there’s more. She really likes her music.
When Hawke announced a tour, I wanted to get tickets for her pretty badly. I was shocked that the only close dates were in Brooklyn. I was willing to take her there because I had taken her brother to Brooklyn for a show.
I tried to get tickets, but they sold out instantly.
My daughter was pretty bummed, but she understood. And frankly I’d be really surprised if Hawke didn’t do a larger tour too.
There were two dates with a different opening act on each night.
On the 12th, Hawke’s opening act is Raaaatscraps:
What is RaaaatScraps?

Our rotating cast of improvisers have been seen on Broad City, Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Severance, Somebody Somewhere, High Maintenance, Search Party, Crashing, 30 Rock, The Other Two, The Blacklist, Succession, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, WeCrashed, Black Mirror, Fallon, John Oliver, Colbert, in multiple Marvel movies, and many more. The cast is STACKED, as they say.
No word on who was in the cast for this show.
On the 13th, Hawke’s opening band is Raffaella:
Born and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Raffaella is quick to rattle off Billie Holiday, St. Vincent, and Regina Spektor as her biggest influences. She spent the early days of her career collaborating with the band Bråves who encouraged her to begin releasing original music. During her noteworthy experience as a student at the University of Southern California, joining a sorority 3,000 miles from home proved to be something of a social experiment which inspired her breakout single Sororicide featuring bright piano bubbles and a homage to Heathers. Raffaella moved back home to New York City to attend Columbia University and continue to build her musical persona. Following her debut, Raffaella’s second track, Bruce Willis, continued to develop her clever and catchy dream pop sound.
I listened to Bruce Willis and rather liked it–dreamy and poppy and she has a lovely voice.
