[ATTENDED: August 2, 2022] Blu deTiger
I had heard of Blu deTiger and knew her song “Figure It Out” which I quite liked.
I didn’t realize that she was a bass player and lead singer–she played some great lead bass lines and did some good funky riffs too.
Blu has been playing bass since she was seven and has been in bands on and off for many years so she has her stage show down really well–she’s flirty and funny and knows how to play an audience.
It also turns out that she’s something of a TikTok sensation, but somehow my daughter wasn’t familiar with her.
Her newer songs are slinky and sexy and funky. The song I knew is a bit slower with a loping bass line and a catchy chorus.
The biggest surprise, and the thing that delighted the audience was the cover medley of Gorillaz / OutKast / and M.I.A. A great three-fer of popular bangers which the crowd got really into.
She ended with “Vintage” a fun song with a clever not to the mosh pit
I’m a vintage girl
Hanging with the flashback kids I need a vintage boy for my outfit Always holds the door but I found him in a mosh pit Way too dressed to kill, how I feel
I enjoyed her set. It was actually really short, which I thought was cool until it took FOREVER for girl in red to come on stage. Really, if it was going to take her so long, Blu should have played a lot more–she was a lot of fun.
