[READ: January 12, 2022] The Bad Guys Episode One
A movie is coming out about this book series (Scholastic must have SO MUCH MONEY!). S. brought it home from the library and I figured I’d give it a read. And five minutes later I’d finished it.
It’s pretty funny (although not as funny as I would have liked).
It’s also clearly designed for young readers since there are usually no more than five words per page. I guess it’s a graphic novel, although there are chapters.
The book opens with Mr Wolf staring at us and telling us to come closer. But we are smart, we know he is a monster so we do not get any closer.
And then we see the Metropolitan Police Department Rap Sheet on Mr Wolf and all the bad things he ha done (like blowing down pigs houses and eating grandmas).
But Mr Wolf sincerely wants us to know that he is not a bad guy, he is a good guy and he has invited the gang over to show us.
First is Mr Snake. Guilty of eating the mice and every other animal in the pet store. He’s less interested in Mr Wolf’s party an just wants to eat mice.
Then comes Mr. Piranha. Who came all the way from Bolivia.
Finally is Mr. Shark, who is guilty of eating anything and anybody.
Mr Wolf has brought them all together to be part of the Good Guys Club.
Like if they see a kitten stuck in a tree, they could…
Eat it.
NO! Rescue it.
(The rescue is very funny, because who wants to be rescued by a piranha).
Then they hop in their car or their first mission–rescuing the dogs in the dog pound. They speed off in Mr. Wolf’s car and–hey, who farted?
My favorite thing in the book is seeing Mr Shark in a dress and pigtails–the drawings crack me up.
This is the first of approximately fifteen books. Good grief.
