[ATTENDED [some]: August 14, 2021] Garcia Peoples
A few days before the Phish show in Atlantic City, Garcia Peoples announced that they’d be playing a free show in the Showboat Casino after the show. Their set started at 11:30. Phish ended a little after 11. But realistically there was no way to get to the Showboat for 11:30.
I was prepared though and walked to the far exit where there were fewer people But it’s still over half a mile away. So I arrived at the stage sometime before midnight. They were mid-song and they sounded great.
There were about three other people there and we settled in and enjoyed the music. Slowly over the course of the next thirty minutes, more people showed up and some even started dancing.
I recognized some of the songs, like “World’s Illusion” and I’m quite certain that they played a bunch of new songs as well–they have a new album in the works. They also did a few extended jams, which were really great.
The band was chock full up there, with three guitarists (each one taking leads), bass, keys and drums.
As it was approaching 1AM, bassist told us that they were scheduled to play until 2AM (!). Since I had a two hour drive home, there was no way I could last, so I left a little after one. I hate to leave a show early but since a) it was free b) I’d get home at 4AM c) I was coming back to AC in a few hours, I felt it was okay to take off.
I made it home safely around 3:30 AM.
