[READ: not exactly]
I’m cheating with this book a little bit. I haven’t actually READ the whole thing. In fact, I probably never will read the WHOLE thing, as it is mostly directions for projects. However, it is already a favorite book of mine!
I just received for my birthday.
I have been planning on creating all manner of cool things in the backyard for the kids (a tree house for starters, as well as a slide and other various obstacles). This book is basically all of my thoughts with pictures instructions. Plus, there’s a whole bunch of stuff that I never thought of and I really hope I have the wherewithal to make.
The book is broken down into three sections:
Easy Projects: Lava Lamp (!), Bombproof Paper Airplane, Water Pressurized Rocket (this looks fantastic: using a bike pump and a 2 liter bottle I can’t wait!) and a Slip n Slide (which, since the real thing is only $7, may not be worth the effort, but whatever).
Afternoon Projects: Tie Dye, Rope Swing, Tire Swing, Slingshot, Water Balloon Launcher, Bird Feeder, Sand Candles, Angel Wings, Climbing Wall
Weekend Projects: Skate Longboard (not yet for my little ones!), Dollhouse (just like I imagined the one I would make), Treasure Chest (he’s already excited for that one), Bike Jump, Zip Line (!!), Tree House, Stunt Dummy (hilarious), Light Box, Half Pipe, Rope Bridge (this looks awesome, I can’t wait to try it out), Circus Tent, Go Cart (got a few years for that one, too).
The instructions are straightforward (including degree of difficulty). And the back pages include Resources and a section on Knots (which I will find handy every day since I was never a Boy Scout).
Thanks family. The fruits of this gift cannot come soon enough!
