[ATTENDED: March 1, 2026] Stuart Laws
After seeing Rhys Nicholson here a month ago, I had a better idea of what to expect. But all my expectations went out the window when we arrived with a solid 25 minutes to spare and there was a massive line outside.
Evidently the previous comedian (who went on at 6) ran really late. And they were still clearing the audience out and getting the place ready. I wasn’t sure if there would be opening acts like last time. There was an opening act, but there was no “Host” like last time. There was someone who introduced Stuart, but he also just told us about the venue’s policies.
Stuart Laws came out and immediately told us that he’d only be doing about 15 minutes of material. I’m not sure if his set was truncated (I assume so).
He did a lot of crowd work when he come out–so much so that I didn’t know if he’d had any material. Well, it turns out that there is an hour long special of his on YouTube, so he is reasonably well known, I guess.
He joked immediately that he was married so lower you expectations. But he admitted that he does cheat on his wife–with audience members. He also admitted that he cheated at board games–by fingering his wife’s friend.
He made some comments about American toilets (the builders brought enough materials for one stall but decided to make 3 out of it. That’s why the doors are so short and there’s a huge gap between the door and the stall wall.
H also joked about his vasectomy. He got it when he was 33 and he used to tell the audience he was 33, until he turned 40 and someone in the audience said “you’re not 33.” So now it’s a fun story in the past. The vasectomy jokes were quite funny and he even did a sperm impression.
He was good.15 minutes is a really short time to really decide on a comedian, but I enjoyed his brief set quite a bit.
