[ATTENDED: January 30, 2026] Kat Radley
My wife and I used to watch the Daily Show all the time. Once ***** got elected we stopped because it was just too painful to deal with the reality. But we do still watch clips online. My wife really likes Jordan Klepper. I knew of him, but didn’t really know him that well.
When this show was announced at McCarter, and she expressed interest in going, well, it was already sold out. So that sucked. But then they added a second show the same night so I grabbed us tickets.
Obviously, I would prefer to go to the 7PM show and be home by 9, but it was kind of novel to be able to leave the house at 8:30 for a show. It was also novel, but not in a good way that it was 9 degrees out when we left.
I tried to imagine what it was like being a comedian doing the same show twice in one day, but I guess that’s fairly common and if your show is sold and well written, it’s no different than being a teacher or someone else who repeats themselves all day.
Because the first show was at 7, they sent us a reminder not to arrive before 8:30 to avoid cross traffic. I assumed that meant the show was an hour or so and there would be no opener.
But imagine my surprise when the voice over (Jordan) said no video taping and you can take pictures, but don’t be a dick about it. Here’s your warm up act, Kat Radley.
Kat Radley is a writer for The Daily Show and immediately joked that if we’d heard any jokes about Jordan looking like a giraffe, she probably wrote them.
Kat was very funny. It’s unfair to compare her to Sonya Vai, who was the unexpected opener for Paul Chowdhry, but Kat seemed much more composed and calm. In retrospect it felt like Sonya was trying to hard (or was just too loud?). Kat was funny from the get go, handled a (mild) heckler with ease and told some very funny personal jokes. This is where there’s some comparison to Sonya because they both talked about dating and children, but in a much different way.
She asked if there were any drinkers in the audience and told how she was concerned about her drinking. So she looked up AA.com and all she got was the American Airlines website. Which reminded her how much she liked to drink on planes. This was when someone in the audience told her to do her research (which is a dick thing to say, imho) but she handled it easily–yes, should do my research. We should all do research about everything. No, that’s what got us into this mess.
She joked about having her wedding six weeks earlier than her friend. So they could be each be the maid of honor. But her friend sad that since she was now married, so she was the matron of honor. Which sounds likes something out of the Handmaid’s Tale. Or what Mike Pence said when he got married “will you be my matron of honor?”
she even joke how much she missed Mike Pence. Who would have ever thought?
She made some very funny jokes about Catholic School and how sex ed there is taught by priests (you can even get pregnant from deep mouth kissing [which is not a thing]). But in public school it is taught by gym teachers. Good lord.
When she was ready to get pregnant, they discovered that they had fertility issues and she told a longish but very funny story about the process (and carrying sperm around–I feel like I haven’t heard the word “jizz” so much in such a short time).
Kat was really funny–both her content and her delivery were fantastic. She was a great opener.
