[ATTENDED: September 17, 2025] Jeff Rosenstock
So I didn’t really know Jeff Rosenstock. I’d heard of him and I knew t hat he had done a lot of work with PUP AND I knew that people loved him, but he had completely slipped my radar.
But when he and his band came out, they were a ton of fun right from the get go. And the crowd went bananas for them.
And he was very funny too. Wearing orange shorts with a pink dye job on his hair (he said he had done it just before the show and it was still dripping down his neck).
They came out to the Friends theme and Jeff immediately told us to get to know the people around us. But if we saw some fucking moron grope someone or get in someone’s face, get some other nice person and get that moron outta here.
And as one blurb says, the set was filled with fan favorites, singalongs, and chaos.
Chaos definitely ruled the show, with songs starting quietly and then turning into glorious punk anthems. HELLLLHOOOOLE starts quietly and then blasts off for a wild chorus (we don’t wanna live in a hell hole). And that’s when I realized I didn’t know if these were one long song or a whole bunch of short songs. They were short songs.
They played 5 songs from WORRY in about 9 minutes. But then they switched things up playing the final song from his latest album Hellmode. 3 Summers clocked in at about 8 minutes (and it was not a slow song or anything).
He was clearly having a great time–smiling throughout the set and bouncing up and down.
I was in front of his guitarist who was rocking possibly harder than anyone else. But his bass player on the far side was having so much fun, jumping around, climbing on the drum riser and smiling throughout.
Things slowed down for TV Stars, with this delightful lyric
I can’t play piano all that well
Like, I’m fine
I can get away with it
If I’m acting like I’m drunk on stage
And you’re shocked that I’m playing anything
I’ll get away with it
They moved back to a fun punky ska song, Scram! which was a ton of fun and had the crowd going nuts. But it was nothing compared to the fun and wildness of Liked U Better.
I was pleased with the way he peppered the set with new(ish) songs–okay that album came out two years ago and everyone knew the words, but the point is taken. But he filled the set with older ones that drove people nuts.
At some point he did the obligatory make noise if you like Ekko Astral and Pup but mixed it up by shouting “make some noise if you fuck with ska!” and then played the ska song Checkerboard Ashtray (which featured him playing a sax solo). When they played Festival Song, the whole band stopped so the audience could sing a verse.
They played the slower, hand waving 9/10 and then ended with You in Weird Cities, yet another fun sing along.
Even though I didn’t know any songs, I enjoyed his set so much. He was a ton of fun, the songs were catchy and the crowd was totally into it.
