I Just Read About That…

[ATTENDED: May 25, 2025] Hail the Sun

Hail the Sun was the third opening band and they played for about 30 minutes.

Their sound was very different from the other two, being a lot more technical and almost proggy.  But they still rocked hard and lead singer Donovan Melero had a strong soaring voice.

Although their older songs like Parasitic Cleanse had a bit more screamo elements to it.

But songs like the truly soaring Tithe were pretty cool.  Melero told us about how long they had been playing and then he played drums and sang on Human Target Practice.  I wondered what the other drummer did during these songs.

They had to pause during Falling on Deaf Ears because of a fan injury (there were three pauses throughout he night).  But bands tend to pick up right where they left off.  And they showed genuine concern over the fan.

I loved when they introduced Under the Floor and said it was a song they had been working on, then they opened with the intro to Tears for Fears’ Everybody Wants to Rule the World (and it sounded great).  The song segued into Floor which sounded a bit more like INK.

The final two songs are also from the newest album and were frenetic and fun.

Of all the opening bands, they were my favorites. And I intend to listen to them a bit more to see if they hold up without the live show,
