[DID NOT ATTEND: September 28, 2024] Hotline TNT / Disq / Euphoria Again / Patter
I’ve been a little bit obsessed with Hotline TNT since I missed them back in January (and then fell in love with their record).
When they played show in June that I missed, I wrote
Hotline TNT plays what I can only describe as classic shoegaze, which is definitely having a moment again. Unlike a lot of their contemporaries, they don’t really mess with the classic shoegaze vibe all that much–not adding elements at all. Their music warms my heart and I’d love to see them live.
But it’s hard to imagine going to a four-band show when the headlining band is one you only know a little and has one album that you’ve listened to.
And, of course, I wasn’t going to go to the Church anyhow.
The rest of the lineup? Never heard of them.
Disq is an American indie rock band from Madison, Wisconsin. They have released two full-length albums and one extended play. I listened to a few minutes of their stuff and like it.
Euphoria Again is from Philadelphia and features members of Knifeplay (who I would like to see). Their first release was pretty rocking but their newer one is a bit more mellow–in fairness Knifeplay is kind of mellow, too.
Patter says of themselves that they are a 3-piece music band that blends elements of melody, rhythm, and sound into something that can only be described as Music. One reviewer says the band represents a “brilliant hodgepodge of indie rock, mathy pop, and slacker charm.”
I enjoyed their weird EP and probably would have enjoyed this show after all.
