SOUNDTRACK: THE GUILD “Game On!” A Bollywood Musical (2010)
There’s an awesomely wonderful Bollywood-esque musical promotion video thingy for The Guild. It’s really great. The production looks like it cost more to make than the entire series of the web-show.
It’s full-on Bollywood with lots of extras, a crazy sequence with Vork as Vishnu, and a nice Real-Life fight. The music is infectious with lots of Indian trills and frills.
It’s a great set piece and a terrific promotion for the show. Well done.

I love the web-show The Guild. Felicia Day is brilliant. I was even more delighted to hear that it was being done as a comic book–the perfect medium for her quirky and funny style.
Imagine how much more excited I was to find out that the timeline is BEFORE the Guild members met! It’s a prequel! It begins with Cyd at her computer (just like the show). She’s doing webcasts, and she is just as funny and self-deprecating as can be. Her therapist insists that she deal with reality, but she seems more intent on an online role-playing game that she discovers. A game which her therapist disapproves of because she drifts even further from reality.
As an outright noob, she is pretty useless in her game. But she slowly gains confidence and skill and most importantly, a Guild.
All of the Guildies make an appearance and the dialogue is spot on and often very funny (“stupid hymen”). It’s also a bit more fanciful (and darker) than the series, since the comics can do things the show can’t).
And that’ because of the art. The art is simply amazing. Felicia Day looks so much like herself (which must be surreal in and of itself). But the fighting scenes are great, and the behind-the-scenes-scenes are really well-developed.
It’s a great series (on TV) and this is a great introduction to it. Actually, I’m not sure if it’s better to read these before watching the show, because the show is gripping right from the get go. And as with all great prequels, it gives you a lot of information and is enjoyable for fans and noobs alike.
